What I have read this month!

Sid Two can play at this game-ha ha

Anyway this is what i have read this month that i have enjoyed the most!

Paris- Andi Watson & Simon Gane!
I have been a fan of watson's work for years this is the first time i have read
a book of his that he did'nt write but im enjoying Simon Ganes detailed and cartoony work, it has a strange mixture of old time cartooning mixed with a modern day asthetic, like watsons previous book Geisha Paris is set in the world of fine art ( something which I noticed has informed watsons work deeply ).
It follows the adventures of New Yorker Juliet and her struggles with studying at the "acade´mie de stael" and life in paris . I enjoyed the book deeply, I especially enjoyed the notes at the back of the book ( a nice touch
explaining the history of the paintings and locations featured in the book)
Im really looking forward to the second issue!

Persepolis 2- Marjane Satrapi
The second Instalment in Marjane Satrapi's coming of age memoirs, I personally think this is one of the most Important Comic Books and pieces of literature to arise in the last 10 years, Its funny, witty and warm evocative of the work of both will eisner & Art Spieglemen.
Its a testament to what can be done with Sequential Art, and this book is art in its truest form!
I also congratulate the author in educating me in the history of Iran, acountry i knew very little about, and how she showed a side of the country which does'nt match the stereotypical views that we are fed by the media, i implore you to read both book 1 & 2 now!

Strangehaven - gary spencer millidge.
possibly one of the creepiest reads i have had all year Gary Spenecer Millidge has crafted a tale which reminds me in part of TV shows like Twin Peaks, The Prisoner, the league of gentlemen the story has a real underlying feeling of dread that i cant place my finger on.
It follows the story of alex who after a car accident ends in a small devonshire village of strangehaven which he cant leave!
Very weird and Im looking forward to book two!

Watchmen - Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons
I re-read this last friday and Im always struck by the fact I find someting new in this book everytime, the attention to detail in this book is unreal
Moore is one of the greatest writers alive! The combination of notes, articles, essays truly put this book in a league of its own!

Im really looking forward to getting my teeth stuck into Promethea! (yes sid i do listen!) and im really not looking forward to the "V for Vendetta" movie.

Apparently Hugo Weaving takes the mask off, but I really wouldn't be surprised if that's not true.

Watchmen is fantastic, it really is one of the best.
